At Bowers Construction, Inc., we spend a lot of time before the agreement is signed educating and working with our clients. That way we can build a better product because the budget is much more accurate and there’s less stress at the end because of allowance and budget changes.

The more the customer knows about all the materials that will be incorporated in his home (or other project) and understands the entire building process, the more total satisfaction will be achieved.” (excerpt from a feature article on Bowers Construction, Inc. in Builder/Architect magazine).

Ken Bowers, president of Bowers Construction, Inc. will personally supervise your project and answer your specific questions. This is a key point of difference for Bowers Construction, Inc. Expect the best, then expect to be impressed!

3. What types of things should I look for in selecting a reputable construction or remodeling professional?
Unfortunately, anyone with a pick-up and a decent set of tools can call themselves a construction contractor -- these people are not our competition!

First and foremost, I would pay close attention to a contractors experience, including their track record and references. At Bowers Construction, Inc. a very high percentage of our work comes from repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals. Please take a look at our portfolio pages and references, then be sure to give us a call at 608/21-2272.

4. How can I tell if my contractor is honest?
The answer to this question is similar to that for #3. Unless you are a construction professional, it is difficult to determine if the contractor you selected is 100% honest and upfront.

We strongly recommend that you do a little homework. Get a listing of recently completed projects that are similar to the one you have in mind. get a reference for each project and be sure to give them a call. Ask questions about the contractors ability to stay on time and on budget. If you spend a little time before your project starts, you can save countless headaches before the project is completed.

5. Everyone I know with a new construction home winds up with squeaky floors after a couple of years. How can I prevent squeaky floors from occurring with my project?
Squeaks and cracks are two of the biggest irritations to new home owners. Many of these problems are caused by contractors trying to “cut corners” by using less expensive construction techniques and workers (as you know, Madison has a very tight labor market). At Bowers Construction, Inc., we employ seasoned veterans who utilize the highest quality construction methods. For example, we screw and glue all plywood to the floor joists. This provides the greatest structural quality to guard against squeaks.
